Now in the mean time... I figured it would be fitting to have just a little tease. Don't you think? Yes? Ok then...
“Danny?
Where are you?” My throat was now as dry as the Sahara.
“That’s
Mr. Anderson to you!” he snarled. “I’m in my office—quickly!”
I
followed the sound of his deep voice, peering around the door of his office to discover
him sitting behind his oversized mahogany office desk, signing some paperwork
as he waited for me. Without looking up once, he beckoned me towards his desk.
“Come
here, Siena. We need to talk.”
Shit. Really? I just wanted to have a
nice day flipping through bridal magazines—how did we end up needing to talk?
His
eyes met mine as he pushed his office chair back. “I think your behavior of
late needs to be thought about.”
“What
behavior?” I bit my lip, feeling my heartbeat quicken again. How could he make me feel like this so
often?
He
exhaled, never once releasing his gaze from my eyes. “You know exactly what I’m talking about, Siena. I
don’t have to explain it to you, and you don’t have to confess it. But either
way, it has to be acknowledged that that sort of behavior is not acceptable to
me.”
I
giggled nervously. He definitely knew everything
I thought he knew. I guess I had been stupid to think he wouldn’t somehow find
out about Josh. After all, this is the sort of crap he had personally been up
to for years, so if he was good at hiding it, he must have had a clue or two
about discovering it. I almost squirmed in front of him, feeling defenseless even
with the desk between us. “So, now what?” I mumbled, hardly daring to breathe.
His
voice lowered almost into a whisper as he leaned forward over the dark wood.
“Now, my darlin’, you face the consequences.”
